Ketamine has a long history of safe and effective use.  FDA approved in the US since 1970, it is used worldwide as an anesthetic agent.    Known for its remarkable safety profile, ketamine is the agent of choice in pediatric trauma and military combat medicine, and is on the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines.  While long recognized by select academic anesthesiologists for its unique properties, only recently has its true potential outside the operating room become apparent to the wider medical community.  Ketamine is currently redefining the way we understand the interrelation of depression, pain, and many other conditions, while providing an exciting new solution for patients who are struggling to take back control of their lives..
